ANNUAL CENSUS

Groups will shortly receive the passwords for access to the census website for their group returns which will require to be made very early in the New Year.

As in past years a full detail of all members is needed with numbers of young people by age in each section and total numbers of leaders also to be entered on the form, on line, either by the group themselves or if that is not possible at district level.

Each district will also receive for distribution to all groups a form to be completed for leaders details and these should be returned to districts as part of the census  for checking and as necessary updating of the national database and the amendment of appointment details. If a district ahs an alternative form for this they can use it. Details of group committees, meeting places and times for all sections are also sought as part of the census

This year the census seeks more details of ethnicity of members and is linked to the forthcoming UK census classification. Additionally the Scout Association is also seeking details of disabilities of all members and there are supporting letters available to help gather this information, if it is not already held at section and group level, on www.scouts.org.uk/census.
