Young Leader Scheme – Adult Training Workshop

Young Leaders in the Explorer Section have been increasing year on year and this success is unquestioned.  It has become evident from speaking with many of you, that there is the wish and need for some specific training for Leaders who in some way have a responsibility for them.

The main aim of the Young Leader Scheme Adult Training Workshop will be to provide adult Leaders with the skills and knowledge to run and develop effective local, Young Leader provision, which in turn will only increase the number of Young Leaders in the Movement and potentially adult Leaders.  Where there is no ESL (YL) the training is offered to those who have a responsibility for the provision of Young Leader Training (DESC, DESL).

The course is being held at Dunolly House, Aberfeldy on 13th – 14th November 2010.  Accommodation will be available for anyone wishing to arrive on Friday 12th.  The course will commence from 10.30 am on Saturday with coffee, and finish after lunch on Sunday. The cost will be £30 and is fully catered.  Those wishing to stay on Friday night can do so at no additional cost.

During the course there will be the opportunity to engage with other Regions and discuss any issues you may have.  Dunolly House staff will be running a session on how to run Team Building sessions.

This learning has particular relevance to the following modules:

  • Module 3 & 4 “Tools for the Job” Section Leaders and Managers
  • Module 11 “Administration” Section Leaders
  • Module 13 “Growing the Movement” Section Leaders

Places are limited, so I would encourage you to please return the attached application form to Andrew Aldous at SHQ no later than Friday 29th October 2010 to secure a place.

I look forward to meeting you and working to develop this section of Explorer Scouting.

Yours sincerely

Jenny Steven

SHQ Commissioner (Explorer Scouts)
