SCOUTING REPRESENTED AT UNVEILING OF MEMORIAL
A patrol of 5 Scouts and one leader from 82nd Inverleith Sea Scouts attended the dedication and unveiling of the Memorial to the Merchant Navy on 16th November parading alongside representatives for each armed service, veterans and representatives from other organisations such as Boys Brigade, Sea Cadets and RNLI. The Memorial was unveiled by The Princess Royal and the parade marched from South Leith Parish Church to the Memorial by Malmaison on The Shore in Leith. The Memorial represents the sacrifice made by Merchant Seamen (and women) in two World Wars and through many other peacetime and wartime roles and still is ongoing. It's a really nice and interesting Memorial.
Thanks to the Sea Scouts for acting as representatives of Scouting at this event.
SCOUTING AT CITY REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE
For the first time Scouting was represented at this event by a contingent off Scouts, drawn this year from the 103rd Morningside. The format of the parade at the City Chambers has been changed and instead of one young Scouter laying the wreath the Scouts and their leader joined the parade from Johnston Terrace to the City Chambers. They braved poor weather conditions to undertake this role and thanks are due to them and the leaders.
Scout Groups across the Region also took part in their local Rememberance Day Services.
