Regional Executive Update

December 11, 2010 at 6:31 PM

The Regional Executive Committee met on 15 November and considered various matters:

  • Agreement was confirmed to go ahead with the refurbishment of the field showers and re-roofing of the whole field toilet/shower block.
  • Reports were received from the review groups looking at Bonaly and Valleyfield Street.
  • The Bonaly Review Group was asked to look further at the possibility of upgrading the centre to meet the long term needs of users from both within and outwith Scouting, and to report again to the next meeting of the Executive.
  • It was agreed that in the meantime, a number of good practice improvements be progressed at Bonaly.
  • The Valleyfield Street Review Group was likewise asked to bring fuller details on various matters to the next meeting of the Executive.
  • Good progress on the Development Project was noted, in particular the early work being undertaken by Scott Burton, the Local Development Officer.
  • The success of the Regional Conference on 30 October was noted.
  • A satisfactory financial position was noted and a budget for 2011-2012 agreed with a Regional Levy of £4.25 per head.
  • The successful recruitment of a part time (3 hours a day, 5 days a week) Clerical Assistant was noted and agreement confirmed, subject to references and Disclosure clearance, that the individual should commence on Monday 10 January working Monday and Friday at Bonaly and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Valleyfield Street.

May I also take this opportunity to thank all adults in the Region for all their hard work to ensure the success of all aspects of Scouting through 2010, and to wish everyone a good festive period and a very happy 2011.
