Update on Regional Staffing Issues
You will be aware that the Regional Executive has, over recent years, been reviewing various aspects of the operation and administration of the Region and the centres that we run.
The Regional Executive has commissioned work and received reports on a regular basis in this regard and much has been achieved in moving aspects of these developments forward.
One of the key actions now being taken which I want to share with you is the appointment of a new senior role based at Valleyfield Street.
This new position of Regional Manager will work closely with senior volunteers to deliver the strategic objectives set by the Region. The role will also be responsible for business planning and delivery, for publicising and marketing the Region’s facilities and for resources within Scouting and beyond, as well as for day to day management including management of staff.
The position is now being advertised with a view to an appointment in April this year.
As you will recall the post of Regional Secretary has operated for a number of years now on temporary contracts and this role will cease at a time appropriate to support a handover to the new post should that be required.
We will ensure that the members of the Region are kept appraised as we move through the recruitment process and you will be informed of any other significant actions being taken as a result of the reviews mentioned above.
