Expression of Interest Submission Date
The next date for submitting "Expressions of Interest" is Monday 28th February. To help with forward planning for the Development Project we have requested that Groups and Districts submit an Expression of Interest if they would like assistance from the Local Development Officer; we then collate all the interest and use this to decide where and how assistance is given for each term. Forms are available in the 'Resources' section of the Region's website.
MV Awards
In partnership with Volunteer Centre Edinburgh a video has been produced to share with Scouts in the South East Region about the benefit and means of achieving the Millennium Volunteer Award. This award is available to those aged 16-25 and would be an additional 'string to the bow' of any Scout. It is achieved by volunteering either 50, 100 or 200 hours in some capacity. Since many Explorer Scouts, Network Scouts and Scout Leaders are volunteering, this means that many of our current members are eligible for receiving or working towards this award with little extra effort. We would encourage Leaders at all levels to share this information with their young people or fellow leaders aged 16-25. The video can be viewed on the Region's website in the 'News' section. A few ideas for recruiting parents
We've come across a few ideas/resources that any Group can access and benefit from - the 134th Pentland has already found the Parent Pack resource of great benefit! For more information, see the 'Development Resource' page in the 'Resources' section of the Region's website.
ADULT RECRUITMENT WORKSHOP: 24 March 7.30-9.30pm Valleyfield Street
Come along to a 2 hour workshop on Adult Recruitment run by the Local Development Officers for South East Region and Clyde Region. The evening will include a mixture of up front input, discussion, sharing of good practice and working on real life situations. Groups can send up to 4 people along; a mixture of leaders and/or Group Executive members from each Group would be ideal. Please email development@southeastscotlandscouts.org.uk or phone the office (0131 229 3756) to book your place by 11th March. No cost involved and lots of freebies will be given out!.
SCOUT GROUP AT ROYAL EDINBURGH SICK KIDS HOSPITAL
The Development Project has taken forward the Region’s wish to establish Scouting provision at the Sick Kids Hospital. Discussions are still at an early stage, but we are letting South East Region members know about this development in case anybody would like to be involved in the Group on a rota-basis, or in case members know of people that may be potential recruits to help lead the Group. Please email development@southeastscotlandscouts.org.uk or phone the office (0131 229 3756) to find out more or register your interest.
