Borders District Scouts have recently returned from their annual Brass Monkey Camp. The camp was held over the weekend of the 29/30 January, and for the first time was at the Bonaly Outdoor Centre, Edinburgh. 107 Scouts and Leaders from across the District braved temperatures rumoured to have reached -8 degrees overnight. All attendees, and the Bonaly Active Support, who provided the catering, were able to place their names in the "Brass Monkey Book", which contains the names of all those who have braved this annual camp since the camp was started by Jack Robb in 1983.
During the closing ceremony, District Commissioner, Tamsin Growden, presented Chief Scouts Gold Awards to Thomas Seabrook (Earlston), Cory Duffy (Earlston) and Eleanor Bathgate (Galashiels).
The District are hoping to have the following events this year jointly with East Lothian.
Saturday 9th April 2011- Easter Fun day for Beavers Scouts at Bonaly.
Friday 5th-Sunday 7th Aug. Joint Borders / East Lothian Sleepover at Netherurd House.
Indoor fun day at Meadowmill Sports Centre, Prestonpans. Date & times TBC. In Nov 2011
