Annual General Meeting and Annual Review

The Annual General Meeting and Review of the South East Scotland regional scout Council will be held on Saturday 30th October at 4.30 p.m at Lasswade High School Centre. It will conclude by 6.00 p.m. and will be at the end of a day which will include a day conference for district and regional teams ( a separate letter will be issued about this)

The formal part will include the annual general meeting and election of office bearers and executive committee for 2010 – 2011.

There will follow a review of some of the activities of the past year  and will include input from young people from different parts of  the Region.

All leaders and supporters from all groups and districts in the Region are invited to attend and light refreshments will follow the meeting.

 

ELECTION TO REGIONAL SCOUT COUNCIL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

In line with the Regional Constitution and Byelaws Six Members of the Regional Scout Council are to be elected to the Regional Executive Committee under rules as follows:

  • Elected members shall serve for a period of one year, taking office immediately after the AGM at which their election is announced, and hold office until the conclusion of the next year's AGM.
  • Elected members should not include more than one member from any one District in the Region.
  • At least one elected member should be from East Lothian, Midlothian or Borders Districts.
  • Election shall be by ballot of members of the Regional Scout Council.
  • Any eligible adult aged 18 or over, with his/her consent, may be nominated for election to the Executive Committee by any two members of the Regional Scout Council.
  • Nominations should be made to the Regional Secretary at least one month prior to the Annual General Meeting (by midnight on 30th September)

For information the membership of the Regional Scout Council is

  1. the President and Vice Presidents
  2. the Regional Chairman, Regional Secretary and Regional Treasurer
  3. the Regional Commissioner, Assistant Regional Commissioners and Regional Advisers
  4. all District Commissioners, District Chairmen and Group Scout Leaders in the Region, including those holding provisional appointments
  5. two named representatives of each District Scout Council in the Region
  6. those District Youth Representatives who are members of The Scottish Council The Scout Association
  7. the Chief Commissioner of Scotland and the Chairman of the Board of The Scottish Council The Scout Association, and
  8. any persons elected or re-elected annually by the Regional Scout Council on the recommendation of the Regional Commissioner and the Regional Executive Committee.
